Here is an opportunity to use your photo, photo shop and graphic artist/sketching skills to create an image that will be used by the City as part of their new branding identity. If selected, it would represent a huge exposure while knowing you were part of creating history that also may be used for the next 50 years or so where the same message of today speaks to the future generations.

Background: The City of Canal Fulton is branding it’s identity focused on Outdoor Recreation with the tag lines, “Ohio’s Gateway to Outdoor Recreation” and “We Have What America Wants”. Canal Fulton’s existence and history is tied to the Ohio & Erie Canal and once again the Ohio & Erie Canal will be the catalyst propelling Canal Fulton into the future. Downtown Canal Fulton is unique in that it has two waterways running through it's downtown in the Ohio & Erie Canal and the Tuscarawas River that brings nature directly into the fabric of the community. The towpath and adjacent areas are used for everything from walking, jogging, biking, foot and bike races, fishing, family walks, bird watching and nature watching, Eco and Wildlife tourism, primitive camping, canoeing/kayaking, horseback riding, baseball, football and soccer fields, to the new YMCA. Downtown Canal Fulton has become a recognized destination for both foot and bike races throughout the state with efforts underway further creating a racing identity that will bring in large national races. Currently in Canal Fulton there is no bike rating designation whereas during 2018 an application will be filed creating a nationally recognized bike friendly rating for downtown Canal Fulton that can be expanded thereafter. The towpath will be designated as U.S. Bike Route 21 as a national bike route. The canal waters in Canal Fulton has received national attention for the trophy size fish that are caught here. The Ohio & Erie Canal extends a distance of 110 miles from downtown Cleveland to New Philadelphia with 25 of those miles running through Western Stark County that includes Canal Fulton where the canal boat is the only operating canal boat along the 110 miles and one of only four in the entire state. Canal Fulton is the only community where it's entire border abutts up to the canal and that has water in the canal on a year round basis making it a true Canal Waterfront Community.

With the above background as to what is important and what represents who the community of Canal Fulton is, this is where you apply that creativity in coming up with an image that will become the companion to the slogan shown below. This branding image will represent the community and its residents to prospective businesses and home owners to potential investors, the tourism industry, an introduction to strangers and to all other uses to showcase what the community has to offer from the Millennials to the Baby Boomers.

When describing Canal Fulton the following is what it could look like in order for the image to play off of:

Note: The font style and any coloring of the letters to be determined upon the final image approved. The image that we are looking for would be able to capture the message of OHIO’S GATEWAY TO OUTDOOR RECREATION. There are three (3) separate categories; original photos of nature scenes, animals, birds, fish or reptiles or others that captures the image of outdoor recreation or original photos photo shopped and original graphic art/sketch designs. Whatever animal, bird, fish or reptile, etc. that you choose to use, it must be something that is found along the Ohio & Erie Canal Corridor with no winter images and can be portrayed as natural, serious, funny or silly to being hip and creative.

There will be a maximum of three (3) images only submitted per participant where those images can be for one category or any combination of categories. By submitting any and all images that are posted here, all participants are doing so with the understanding that they are giving up all rights of ownership where those images if not selected as the final images can be used by the branding committee to further promote Canal Fulton.

The participant who submits the image that is selected will be given full recognition as creating the image where it can be from a sense of pride to being a recognized business example of your work being tied to history in the making and something that will be on display everyday in some capacity.
